那时英国聋哑儿童的教育让人惊讶。片中父亲的嫉妒，与母亲对孩子教育理念的不一致的确会导致婚姻危机。小女孩表演出色，无论是拍打小狗，下楼奔向母亲，眉眼间自然流露没有表演痕迹，你会以为她就是曼迪，不过也的确算是。片中祖父母家外景可见大桥，外面依旧废墟一片，让人想起《呼声》外景。
