Don Pedro, the elegant landowner of Puerto Rico, is conquered by Astree, the rebellious travelling Swedish woman. They get married and have a child. Their relationship begins to change and Don holds Astree a prisoner. 一见钟情的异国婚姻，分崩离析的夫妻关系，塞克早年对家庭伦理的处理差强人意。不过非常喜欢这部电影浓郁的西班牙风情。开场的弗拉明戈舞、喧闹生猛的斗牛，华丽剪裁的服饰，珠光宝气的配饰，尤其是Zarah Leander手上那枚方形切割的硕大戒指，弹眼落睛简直堪比麻将牌。结局还有来自女主亲自演唱的一曲《哈巴涅拉》来点题。
